FAQ

Everything you need to know before you start.

Equipment

What equipment do I need for each program?

Here's a breakdown by program:

Program Equipment Required Gym Needed?
Busy Body 3 kettlebells (heavy, medium, light), pull-up bar or rings, box or elevated surface No — home friendly
Foundation 26 Phase 1: Dumbbells, kettlebells, bodyweight. Phase 2: Adds barbells and a rack Phase 1: No. Phase 2: Yes
Savage 4 Barbell, rack, bench, plates Yes

Can I substitute dumbbells for kettlebells in Busy Body?

Yes. Dumbbells can substitute for kettlebells throughout the program. Some movements (like the kettlebell swing or Turkish getup) are more effective with a KB, but dumbbells will get the job done.

What size kettlebells should I start with for Busy Body?

This depends on your current strength level. A general starting point: light = something you can press overhead for 10 clean reps, medium = challenging for 5, heavy = something you can swing with full control. If you're unsure, email support@vandycktraining.com.

The Programs

Which program is right for me?

Busy Body — If you want short, intense workouts (15–30 min, 3–4 days/week) that fit around a busy life or complement other training you're already doing.

Foundation 26 — If you're newer to structured training or want to build a serious base before adding heavy barbell work. Six months, two phases, all levels welcome.

Savage 4 — If you have gym access, a solid foundation in the big lifts, and want to peak your Front Squat, Back Squat, Bench, and Deadlift over 24 weeks.

Can I switch programs after I subscribe?

Yes. You can switch programs at any time from your portal. Your subscription carries over — no need to resubscribe.

What happens when I finish a program?

You can restart the same program or switch to a different one — both options are available directly in your portal when you complete the final block.

Are there rest days built into the programs?

Savage 4 and Foundation 26 have scheduled rest days built into each block. Busy Body does not — rest days are self-directed. Train 3–4 days per week and take rest when you need it. If you're using Busy Body as a supplement to another program, build it around your existing schedule.

The Portal

How does the block unlock schedule work?

Your first block unlocks immediately when you subscribe. After that, new blocks unlock automatically on a set schedule — every 7 days for Busy Body and Foundation 26, every 10 days for Savage 4. You don't have to do anything. The portal shows you exactly how long until your next unlock. If you need an adjustment, email support@vandycktraining.com.

Can I add my training to my calendar?

Yes. The portal has a built-in calendar export feature — pick a start date and time, and download an .ics file that works with Google Calendar and Apple Calendar.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes — the portal is fully mobile-optimized and can be added to your home screen like an app. On iPhone, open it in Safari, tap the three dots next to the address bar, press the Share button (up arrow), tap View More, then select "Add to Home Screen." On Android, tap the three-dot menu in Chrome and tap "Add to Home Screen."

Can I track my progress?

Yes. The portal includes a training log (all completed sessions with notes), a personal records tracker for your key lifts, and a streak tracker so you can see your consistency build over time.

Subscription

What does the free trial include?

Your first week is free. You get full access to your chosen program from Day 1 — no restricted features, no credit card charge until your trial ends.

What are the subscription options?

Monthly — $29/mo. Flexible, cancel anytime.
Annual — $199/yr. Roughly $16.58/mo — save $149 compared to monthly. Best option if you're committed to a full program cycle.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel anytime through the billing portal — accessible from your member portal under "Manage Billing." No calls, no forms, no hassle. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your training history, completed days, and personal records are retained for 12 months after cancellation. If you resubscribe within that window, everything picks up where you left off.

About VDT

Who built these programs?

I'm Sebastian Van Dyck — Doctor of Physical Therapy, strength coach, and founder of VDT. I built this platform because I wanted to give people access to real, quality programming without the noise. Every program is designed by me, built around sound training principles, and structured to produce real results over time.

What's your educational background?

I hold a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Southern Maine and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont. The coursework spans biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, pathology, and the clinical management of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions — the same foundation I use when I'm building a 24-week strength program or deciding how to sequence a recovery block. This isn't fitness certification knowledge. It's a clinical science degree applied to performance training.

What if my question isn't here?

Email support@vandycktraining.com and I'll get back to you.
